Our first year of marriage, Lance bought me a nice wood stove for Christmas. I was beyond thrilled to get it! Growing up, we always had a fireplace in our home that we burned through the winter months. Now, I would be able to have those fires again, and as an added bonus, I had a place to cook on as well! I will say that cooking on a wood stove is totally new and a skill I’m still developing, but I look forward to it so much.
Anyways, after 3 years of burning the stove, it began to look, well, not so pretty. The sides were turning white from the extreme temperatures that the stove reaches, and there were spots that were a little rusty from where I let water boil over one-too-many times. So I began to do some research on how to make my wood stove look pretty again. I wasn’t necessarily going for that “brand new” look, but the results I got were pretty close to it! I found a blog where a lady had used stove paste to make her wood stove pretty again! I bought mine off of off of Amazon. It’s called Meeco’s Stove Paste and cost me about $7.50. I even had a ton left over after I finished that I’ll be able to use after this winter!
So here are the pictures of the stove before I did anything to it:
Not the worst stove I’ve ever seen, but I didn’t want it to get any worse! After a nice, thick coat of stove paste, here are the results!
I am so pleased with how the stove turned out. I’m just even more anxious for some cool weather now so that I can burn the stove and cook on it again! The leaves are starting to fall from the trees so I know that Autumn is just around the corner, and before long, it will be winter here! Now to just be patient…
