**You’re about to get a picture overload! Just thought I’d warn ya! 😉
Last week, Chelsey and I took my boys to Jackson’s Natural Science Museum. There was a large dinosaur display set up with different fossils. All of the ones in the museum had been found throughout Mississippi, which was really cool! They had it highlighted on a map where the bones were found. There was also a room that was filled with dinosaur eggs (lots of replicas) and a lot of hands-on activities that the boys loved. There was a hall that had an aquarium on one side, and mock nature scenes on the other. The last of the exhibits was an outdoor area with fish tanks that had gators, and other fun creatures in it. There was a nice walking trail outside with boardwalks, but we decided not to go down it. We had a blast there and I can’t wait for their dino egg room to change to something new so we can go check it out!
Playing with some “stuffed dinosaur eggs” was a lot of fun. The boys didn’t really understand it, but they had fun throwing them around!
There was a really cool dinosaur leg bone puzzle that the boys and I put together. It looked a lot like this bone. I loved that everywhere around the museum were signs that read, “PLEASE TOUCH”. A mom of toddlers BEST friend!
There were several sand boxes with dinosaur eggs in them that you could dust off with paintbrushes. We all really enjoyed discovering the eggs hidden beneath the dirt!
So this dinosaur bone was on American Pickers. Apparently, this guy in Tennessee had it in his shed and didn’t know. The show “picked” it and then had it shipped to Jackson to go in the museum. I’m just wondering how you don’t realize you’ve got this giant bone in your shed?!
There was a cool preschool room that we got to play in. There were lots of sensory stations, a big tree house with a slide, and other fun toys. I think this was probably the highlight of the day for the boys.
So this is a double-headed rat snake. Someone found this not too long after it had been born back in 2013, and turned it in. They suspect it was going to split into twins, but for some reason the process stopped before it finished. Kinda freaky.
